The gap in the wall still exists and leads to a lane along the bank of the river Derwent that would eventually lead to the bend with ex Fitz Mill opposite ex Low Gote Mill.
The white gate at this time was the entrance for the coal merchants and behind the wall is now the car park of Lakes Home Centre.

Low Road where Aldi is now. Here is Tolson petrol station, but if the photographer moves to Crown Street to the Kingfisher pub the pavement has the wall of the ex school room (now church rooms) and the wall ha an advert for Tolson garage with their adjacent workshop.. Thomas Armstrong garage is behind the petrol station and the County Council depot to the right and the gas holder is seen in the distance at the top of Horsman Street. c 1960
Low Road Tolson garage, Tolson had been on Crown Street, next to the Kingfisher pub, beside the Catholic hall that shows the wall art advert for Tolson garage. They moved here and built their garage in front of their large workshop. The workshop was converted into the DIY store who later built and moved into the Lakes Home Store, and the workshop and garage was demolished to make Aldi store and car park. Note the sign for Lloyds motors with entrance to Low Road Close beyond Lloyds motors. c 1970
