Cottage Hospital Isel Road was demolished and the site used to build a new residential appartment block. The adjacent land was bought by the League of Friends of Cockermouth Hospital so that when the new housing estate was built in the 1960s, this piece of land was reserved so that no building would be put on it until they decided that after the major 2009 flood ruinded the South Street surgery and the Derwent practice buildings, then the land beside this old cottage hospital should be the site of the new amalgamated doctors practice of Cockermouth Community Hospital.
