Seating for 755, many years it was a centre for a wide variety of entertainment, drama, opera, orchestras, choirs, silent films, then “talkies” and finally – Bingo! It was also the venue for the Grammar School speech days.
Entertainment finished in 1978 and the building was shared by a veterinary surgeon and an electrical showroom and contractor.
On the left and right of the centre entrance were shops, the left shop was Miss Bunting, sweet shop, the right side shop was the office of Bibby & Co cattle feed merchants. 1914
